One dies, six hurt in Gazipur factory fire

A fire broke out at a garment factory in Dhirasram of Gazipur metropolitan on Wednesday noon, leaving at least one worker dead and about six others injured.

The deceased was known as Md Likhan Mia, 24, hailed from Gaibandha district.

Locals said an engine of a factory named Intelligent Card Limited exploded around 1:00pm, leaving seven workers of the factory injured. Later, the injured were sent to Shaheen Tajuddin Ahmed Medical college hospital where Likhan died under treatment.

On information, two units of fire service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 1:30pm.

Gazipur fire service deputy assistant director Abdul Al Arefin confirmed the matter.
