Pregnant woman raped keeping husband hostage in Pabna

A pregnant woman was gang-raped after keeping her husband hostage in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna.

Family members claimed that the unborn baby of the victim died following the incident.

The incident took place at Char Kestopur village when the victim along with her husband was returning home from a mehfil (religious programme) on Friday midnight (February 24). Later, the victim’s husband filed a case.

The accused, all at large, are Selim Pramanik, 23, son of Mazed Pramanik, Sharif Hossain, 24, Rajib Sarder, 21, son of Anis Sarder, Ruhul Mandal, 26, son of Taleb Mandal, Lalon Sarder, 20, son of Shafiq Sarder, and Sirajul, 23, son of Shamsul Islam.

According to the case statement, the woman went to the mehfil with her husband. While returning home around 12.00am, a group of people held her husband hostage with sharp weapons. The miscreants forcefully took her to a corn field and two of them raped her.

Aminpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harunur Rashid said police drive is underway to arrest the culprits.
