Farmer killed in wild elephant attack in Cox’s Bazar

A farmer was killed in an attack by a wild elephant while he was working in a paddy field at Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday (March 26) afternoon.
The incident happened in Chitarbil area under Harbang union of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Belal Uddin, 52, a resident of Bhandarideba area under Harbang union.
Harbang Union Parishad Chairman Mehraj Uddin confirmed the news.
According to locals, Belal Uddin was working in his paddy field near a hill in the afternoon. Suddenly, a wild elephant came out and grabbed Belal Uddin with its trunk and crushed him under feet. He died on the spot.
At the same time, another farmer Kamal Hossain was also injured by the elephant.
Later, local people rescued him and admitted to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex.
