3 to die for killing school student in Faridpur

A Faridpur court has sentenced three people to death and three others to life term imprisonment in a case lodged over the murder of a school student in Nagarkanda upazila of the district.

Faridpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Md Hafizur Rahman handed down the verdict around 12:30 pm on Wednesday (March 27).

The tribunal’s public prosecutor (PP) Swapan Pal confirmed the information.

The death-row convicts are— Mahabub Alam, Kamal Matubbor and Khokon Matubbor.

The convicts who got life term imprisonment are Ashraf Sheikh, Azizul Sheikh and Sujon Matubbor.

According to the prosecution, on June 7, 2018, Alauddin alias Antar, a student of class eight, of Char Manikdi area under Talma union in the upazila, was abducted for ransom and strangled to death.

Later, the police recovered the body from a canal.

Following the incident, victim’s mother Jannati Begum filed a murder case at Nagarkanda police station on June 15.
