Several terrorists held during joint raids in Bandarban: Army chief

Law enforcers started joint operation in the hill districts at the directive of the Prime Minister from April 6 night following the bank robberies, looting of weapons and abduction of bank official in Bandarban. 

Meanwhile, several terrorists have been detained and two firearms recovered during the raids in the hill districts.

Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed told this to media during a visit to Bandarban at the Bandarban Cantonment on Sunday (April 7) following the robberies, kidnapping, and gunfire in Ruma and Thanchi Upazilas in Bandarban two days ago. The top army officials were present during this time.

The army chief said, “Joint operations have started against the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) at the directive of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from Saturday night in Bandarban to curb the separatists following the terrorist attacks in Thanchi and Ruma. Two weapons have already been recovered.”

The joint forces’ drive will continue until the situation becomes normal, he added.
