2nd phase upazila polls: Who are the winners?

The results of the second phase of the Upazila Parishad election in the chairman posts were announced by the returning officers and district election officers of various districts unofficially Tuesday night (May 21).

In Rangamati, Chairman candidate Nasir Uddin has been declared winner in Kaptai upazila parisha election. He got 7,362 votes while nearest candidate got 7,075 votes.

In Rajshahi’s Puthia, Durgapur and Baghmara upazila, Abdus Samad Mollah, Jakirul Islam Santu, and Sharifuzzaman won respectively.

In Cox’s Bazar’s Chakaria upazila, Fazlul Karim Saidee has been declared winner unofficially. He bagged 56,122 votes. Shafayet Aziz Razu won from Pekua upazila. He got 23, 293 votes. Upazila Awami League president Abu Taleb won in Eidgaon upazila. He got 16,856 votes.

In Shariatpur, Md Kamruzzaman and Mohammad Idris Farazi were elected unofficially from Shariatpur Sadar and Zanjira upazila respectively.

In Cumilla, Abdul Hey Bablu was elected from Sadar Dakkhin upazila while Hamid Latif Bhuiyan won from Barura upazila.

In Faridpur, Kazi Shah Jaman Babul has been declared winner from Nagarkanda upazila and Md Wadud Matubbar from Saltha upazila.

In Jhalakathi, Arifur Rahman bagged chairman’s post in Sadar upazila and Salahuddin Khan Salim in Nalchity upazila.

In Brahmanbaria, Saidur Rahman Sawapon won in Kasba upazila while Monir Hossain in Akhaura upazila.
