Youth shot dead in Gazipur

A young man was allegedly shot dead by a rival group in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila on Tuesday night (May 21).

The deceased was known as Farid Ahmed, 22, son of Mostafa, hailed from the Uzilab village of Sreepur upazila.

Witnesses and family sources said one Ataullah’s three sons of Shakib, Maruf and Mahfuz attacked cousin Munsur Ali Imran around 8:30 pm centering previous enmity. At one stage, Shakib opened fire aiming at his cousin Imran but the bullet hit Farid Ahmed, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was taken to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex where he died under treatment.

Confirming the matter, Sreepur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akbar Ali Khan said the body was sent to Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
