The depression over east central Bay and adjoining west central Bay moved to north-northeastwards and intensified into a deep depression over the same area.

Under the influence of depression, the sea near the Patuakhali district has remained rough.

According to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), it was centered at 12pm on Saturday about 425 kms south of Payra port.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no 3.

District Meteorological Office Officer-in-Charge Mahbooba Sukhi said, “The depression may turn into a cyclone on Friday afternoon. Side by side, rainfall may occur.”

Additionally, a notice has been issued to all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay region. They are advised to take shelter in safe places.
