Cyclone Remal crosses Bangladesh coast

The central part of cyclonic storm Remal has crossed coastal regions this morning.

It will become a normal cyclone from a severe cyclone within two hours. Then it will turn into a low pressure. The impact of the cyclone would end in the next 5 to 6 hours, said the Meteorological Department.

Earlier, the cyclone formed in the Bay of Bengal hit the coast of Bangladesh around 8 pm on Sunday. The country witnessed heavy rainfall due to the impact of the cyclone.

Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department, around 8:00 am today said the cyclonic storm Remal has crossed coastal regions of Bangladesh.

With winds gusting up to 120 kilometres per hour, severe cyclonic storm Remal made landfall in the coasts of Bangladesh, bringing heavy rains that flooded homes and farmland, and leaving a trail of destruction. The landfall process began at 8:00 pm on Sunday over the adjacent coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh.
