“Strict action if anyone tries to incite violence in polls”

Commissioner of Rajshahi division Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir said that strict action will be taken if supporters of any candidate attempt to incite violence in upazila elections. That’s why law enforcers and mobile courts are active in the election field.

He said this while visiting a vote center in Nowhata High School in Paba upazila of Rajshahi on Wednesday morning (May 29).

Humayun Kabir said that each upazila where the election being held, was put under tight security measures. Legal action will be taken if anyone tries to incite violence.

In the last upazila election, not more than 12 members of the law-and-order force could be given in each centre. But this time there are 17 people in general polling stations. Even 19 security members were deployed in risk prone centers, he added.

Rajshahi deputy commissioner Shamim Ahmed, Returning officer and additional deputy commissioner (revenue) Sarkar Asim Kumar, Paba upazila nirbahi officer Abu Saleh Md Hasnath and others accompanied him.
