Tk 29 lakh looted from IFIC Bank vault in Bogura

Miscreants allegedly looted some Tk 29 lakh from the vault of a IFIC Bank sub-branch in Matidali area of Bogura Sadar sometime early Thursday.

Mirazul Islam, a local businessman and client of the bank, said that this branch of the bank has been operating in this market for the past three years. Unfortunately, the security system of this branch was not so strong. There was no security guard at night. I come to know in the morning that the bank has been robbed at night. Their alarming system was also closed yesterday.

Tazmilur Rahman, manager of Bogura branch of IFIC Bank, said that there are five CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras in their bank. There was no security guard at night although there was security guard during the day. There are a total of four staff in this sub-branch and they include a manager, an officer, a cleaner and a day security guard. He saw two persons robbing the bank on the CCTV camera.

Bogura District Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Snigdh Akhtar said, “We went to the spot after being informed about the incident. We observed the CCTV cameras inside the bank. The bank officials told us that some Tk 29 lakh has been stolen from the bank”.
