Sunamganj town goes under water 

Due to heavy rainfall and onrush of upstream water, all rivers of Sunamganj district are flowing above the danger mark, inundating the town.  

Sunamganj town’s Nabinnagar, Natunpara, Hashannagar, Shaheed Abul Hossain Road, Uttar Arpinnagar, Teghoria, Kazir Point, Sholghar, Sabzi Bazar, Shantibagh, Bandhanpara and other areas were submerged under knee-deep water on Tuesday. 

People are facing huge sufferings as water has entered their houses and shops.  

According to Water Development Board, Sunamganj, Surma was flowing 48 cm above the danger level at Shologhor point and 137cm at Chhatok point on Tuesday morning.  

Heavy rainfall was recorded in the district. Met office predicts that more rainfall may occur.
