2 killed in Bogura amid clash between protesters and police

At least two persons were killed and many others injured during a clash between the police and protesters in Bogura on Sunday (August 4).

Of the deceased, one was identified as Munirul Islam, 34, hailed from Birkedar area of Kahalu upazila.

Local sources said protesters started a rally around 10:00am in Dupchanchia upazila. They locked into a clash with police. At one stage, police took position inside the police station. Meanwhile, police fired tear-shell and sound grenades as the protesters tried to break the gate of police station. As a result, 12 people received injuries. Later, they were taken to hospital where duty doctor declared two of them dead.

Dupchancia upazila health and family planning officer Dr Shamsunnahar and Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital’s deputy director Dr Abdul Wahud confirmed the death news.
