Chief Adviser to the interim government Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus has said that Abu Sayeed is not a child of a family, Abu Sayeed is now at everybody’s home.
The Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist Muhammad Yunus made the remarks while addressing the media after offering prayer at Abu Sayeed’s grave and talking to his family members on Saturday (August 10) morning.
Dr Yunus said, “As many families as there are in Bangladesh, Abu Sayeed is their son. Those who will grow up, study in schools and colleges, will know about Abu Sayeed and will say to themselves, I will also fight for justice. Abu Sayeed is now at everybody’s home.”
“Abu Sayeed is the child of everyone regardless of caste and religion. Be it a Hindu family, a Muslim family, a Buddhist family - this Abu Sayeed is the son of everyone,” he added.
Earlier, a helicopter carrying Yunus landed at Bangladesh Marine Academy in Pirganj around 10:50am.
The two student representatives in the advisory council accompanied him.
Abu Sayeed, a 12th batch student at English Department of Begum Rokeya University (BRU) in Rangpur and a coordinator of the anti-quota movement, was killed in police firing during the quota protests on July 16.
