Factories reopen in Savar industrial area as normalcy returns

Garment factories in Savar and Ashulia industrial areas have reopened today following closure of those factories for several days.
The workers started their work at the factories on time on Saturday (September 7) morning.
However, authorities have announced closure of two factories around 9am.
According to sources, so far, no untoward incident has been reported anywhere in the regions. Additional police have been deployed in front of the factories to avoid any untoward incident. Additionally, army patrolling is in force there.
Khairul Mamun Mintu, legal affairs secretary of the Bangladesh Garment and Sweater Workers Trade Union Centre, said the workers have joined their work at the factories in the morning. So far, no untoward incident has been reported.
Mohammad Sarwar Alam, superintendent of Ashulia Industrial Police-1, operations at most factories resumed today as security measures were beefed up in the industrial area. Two factories have remained closed. The situation is now under control.
For the past few days, an unrest was prevailing in the Ashulia industrial area due to the agitation of workers of some factories and job aspirants.
