10 fishing trawlers capsized in Hatiya, 3 bodies recovered

Due to the inclement weather, 10 fishing trawlers capsized in the Bay of Bengal, near Hatiya, Noakhali’s remote island upazila.
So far, three bodies have been recovered in this connection. However, the bodies could not be identified immediately.
Additionally, 30 fishermen and crew members have been rescued alive from the trawlers, but many others remained missing.
Incidents of trawler capsize took place in between Friday (September 13) evening and Saturday (September 14) morning.
Hatiya Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Milton Chakma said, “About 10 fishing trawlers have capsized due to the rough weather. A cargo trawler was also among them. Many have returned ashore. However, many fishermen are still missing. An operation is being conducted to rescue them.”
Khandaker Istiaq Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of Noakhali, confirmed the news.
