3 members of a family electrocuted in Jhenaidah

Three members of a family have died from electrocution in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila.
The incident took place at Shurapara in Porahati union of the upazila on Monday (September 16) morning.
The deceased were identified as Mukaddes Molla, 60, his sister-in-law Hasina Begum, 55, and his nephew’s wife Reshma Khatun, 45.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhenaidah Sadar police station Shahin Uddin said police were sent to the spot after being informed about the incident.
According to police and local sources, due to storms and rain over the past two days, a papaya tree in the backyard of farmer Mukaddes Molla’s house had fallen. On Sunday night, Mukaddes Molla went to fix the papaya tree and got electrocuted by a wire.
When he did not return home that night, his family started looking for him. On Monday morning, Hasina Begum and Reshma Khatun found Mukaddes Molla lying on the ground and attempted to rescue him.
During this, they too were electrocuted and severely injured. Upon receiving the news, the Fire Service rescued the injured and admitted them to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital but duty doctor declared them dead while undergoing treatment.
