Son surrenders after killing mother in Cox’s Bazar

Police have recovered the body of one Anwara Begum Mery, 55, from West Boruapara of Cox’s Bazar city.
There is an allegation that Hossain Mohammad Abid, 28, killed his mother by stabbing her in Cox’s Bazar city as she refused to give him money to buy drugs. Later he surrendered at Sadar Police Station.
The deceased was the wife of Niaz Ahmed, a resident of Cox’s Bazar municipality.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox’s Bazar Police Station Iliyas Khan confirmed this to risingbd.
Quoting locals, Sadar Police Station’s SI Sourav said, “Abid often tortured his mother physically and mentally for drug money. He stabbed his mother to death for drug money on Friday night. At that time, his father Niaz was not at home. He was in Chittagong at his daughter’s house.”
SI Sourav said, “Abid came to the police station early Saturday and said he killed his mother. Then we rushed to the house and recovered the body. Later, the body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.”
