The tourist ship service on the Cox's Bazar-Saint Martin’s Island route will begin from Sunday (December 1).
Ships will leave BIWTA terminal in Cox's Bazar town’s Nuniarchhara.
Earlier, it was scheduled to resume the service last Thursday, but the ship owners temporarily suspended due to lack of passengers.
President of ship owners association Hossain Islam Bahadur confirmed the matter.
Cox's Bazar Additional Executive Magistrate (ADM) Nizam Uddin Ahmed said, “As of Saturday (November 30) evening, the district administration has allowed three ships to travel to St. Martin's. This approval was given after scrutinizing and selecting in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change”.
In October, the government limited tourism in Saint Martin's Island in Cox's Bazar during the peak season with a view to protecting the country's lone coral island from environmental pollution caused by growing tourists.
The Council of Advisers took the decision.
