8 accused placed on 5-day remand over violence at Ctg court

A Chattogram court on Tuesday (December 10) placed eight accused on a five-day police remand in a case filed over the clashes and vandalism following ex-ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna’s bail denial.

The court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Alamgir Hossain passed the order after police produced the accused before the court with seven-day remand prayer.

The accused are Suman Das, Sujan Das, Sakibul Alam, Ahmed Hossain, Sourav Das, Md Rakib, Srijon Das, and Imon Chakrabarty.

On November 26, the supporters of Chinmoy Krishna Das locked into violent clashes with police and others on the court premises when the court rejected his bail plea in a sedition case.

Lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was hacked to death during the clashes.
