The BNP has reopened its Gopalganj district office after 17 years.
Former president of Gopalganj unit BNP Sirajul Islam Siraj inaugurated it as the chief guest in the district town’s Gatepara area on Friday morning.
Olama Dal leader Md Omar Faruk, BNP leaders Azizur Rahman Beno, Alamgir Hossain and Khairul Islam spoke at the inaugural function, among others.
Sirajul Islam said, “After the Awami League came to the power in 2008, it was not possible for BNP to maintain an office in Gopalganj. AL harassed and oppressed the BNP leaders and activists by law enforcement agencies in last 17 years. Through this office, BNP’s activities will get a boost in the district”.
The BNP office was shut down after the caretaker government had come to power in 2007.
