Elderly man found dead at mosque’s bathroom in Cox’s Bazar

Police have recovered the body of an elderly man from the bathroom of a mosque at Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
It is believed that he may have died of a stroke inside the bathroom.
The deceased is Nurul Islam, 62, a resident of West Batakhali village in the upazila.
His body was recovered from the bathroom of Chakaria Thana Center Mosque in the upazila at around 8 pm on Friday (January 17).
Eyewitnesses said that Nurul Islam went to the toilet before performing ablution during Isha prayers at the Chakaria Thana Center Mosque on Friday. Other worshippers became suspicious as he stayed inside the toilet for a long time. Later, he was found dead after the door was opened.
In this regard, Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjur Kader Bhuiyan said, “It is believed that Nurul Islam died of a stroke in the mosque’s bathroom.”
Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body.
After completing the legal process, the body was handed over to the relatives, the OC said.
