Arakan Army releases 3 cargo ships after 4 days

Three cargo ships held by Myanmar’s rebel group Arakan Army for four days have been released on Monday.

The boats, which were en route from Yangon, Myanmar, to the Teknaf land port in Cox’s Bazar, were detained on Thursday (January 16) while navigating through the Naf River.

Syed Mohammad Anwar Hossain, the manager of United Land Port Limited, which operates Teknaf land port, said that the three cargo ships were carrying 50,000 sacks of goods. The items include dried fish, betel nuts, coffee, and other goods worth Tk 30 to 40 crore.

The Arakan Army released two cargo ships this morning. One has already reached the port. Information is being collected about the remaining one, he added.
