Former MP Chayan Islam arrested in Gazipur

Police arrested former Member of Parliament (MP) for Sirajganj-6 constituency Chayan Islam from Sreepur upazila of Gazipur.

Sreepur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Joynal Abedin Mandal confirmed the matter on Monday morning (February 10).

Earlier he was arrested from Tepirbari village of the upazila around 12:00 am.

Chayan was elected as MP from Sirajganj-6 under the nomination of the Awami League.

Local sources said the MP was in hiding for about two months in a fourth-floor flat of a six-story building in the village.
