India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has agreed to remove CCTV cameras installed at the zero line of the Bhurungamari border in Kurigram following a strong protest and firm stance by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
BSF officials gave their consent at a flag meeting held in Bangladesh territory near Jhakuatari Jame Mosque on the Dakshin Banshjani border on Tuesday (February 11) morning.
Commander of Kurigram BGB Battalion 22 Lt. Col. Muhammad Masudur Rahman confirmed the information.
According to BGB sources, on Sunday, members of the Indian 162 BSF Battalion’s Small Caravan Camp installed a CCTV camera on a eucalyptus tree, five yards inside India.
The camera faced Bangladesh near border pillar 978/9-S, adjacent to the zero line — a location under the jurisdiction of Diyadanga BOP, BGB 22 Battalion, Kurigram.
Once the BGB noticed the installation, they immediately objected and called for a flag meeting with the 162 BSF Battalion commander.
