Country’s biggest Jumma prayer today at Ijtema ground

The second phase of the 58th Bishwa Ijtema began with ‘Aam Bayan’ (general sermon) after the Asr prayers on Thursday on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur.

The district administration on February 9 handed over the Tongi Ijtema ground to the followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi for holding the second phase of the Bishwa Ijtema.

The country’s largest Jumma congregation is going to be held at the Ijtema ground on Friday (February 14) at 1:30 pm. Maulana Yusuf bin Saad Kandhalvi, the eldest son of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi will conduct the Friday prayer. Earlier, Maulana Abdus Sattar delivered a sermon after the Fajr prayer.

Mohammad Sayem, media coordinator for Saad followers, said: “Muslims from different districts and other parts of the world have poured into the Ijtema Maidan. The country’s largest Jummah congregation is going to be held at the Ijtema ground at 1:30 pm. With everyone’s participation, we hope to conduct this Ijtema beautifully.”

Since the holy Shab-e-Barat falls on the same day (tonight), thousands of devotees will participate in the Ijtema Maidan to observe the night of fortune, said Mohammad Sayem.

The second phase of the ijtema will end with the Akheri Munajat (final prayer) on February 16.
