Couple dies from electrocution in Gazipur

A man and his wife died after being electrocuted at Kapasia upazila in Gazipur district on Friday (February 14) afternoon.

The incident occurred at Seldia village under Barishab union in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Shahidullah Bhuiyan, 55, and his wife Ferdousi Akter, 40; and residents of Seldia village under Barishab union in the upazila.

Local people said, they set up an electric motor in preparation for catching fish from a pond near their house. When they tried to turn on the power to the motor, Shahidullah was first electrocuted. During this time, his wife was also electrocuted while trying to save him.

Later, they died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Confirming the incident, Kapasia Police Station sub inspector (SI) said relatives of the deceased brought them to the police station. Legals action would be taken in this regard.
