Four individuals were shot and injured during the robberies that reportedly occurred at two houses of Ukhiya’s Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar.

The incident took place at Kutupalang 20-extension camp B-2 block on Thursday (February 20) morning.

The injured are Samsul Alam, 45, his children Alauddin, 12, Morjina, 13, and Marium, 10.

14-Armed Police battalion commander additional DIG Mohammad Siraj Amin confirmed the incident.

He said that a group of robbers numbering 8 to 10 members stormed one Hasina Begum’s house at the early morning in the area and looted Tk 70,000 at gun point.

Later, the robbers entered Hasina’s sister Sazeda Begum’s house and looted Tk 86,000. While the robbers were attempting to escape, neighbors rushed to stop them. At this time, four people were injured in the bullets fired by robbers.

Being informed, locals rescued them and took them to nearest hospital. Among them, three are in critical conditions and they have been taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
