Bridegroom’s uncle beaten to death over loud music at wedding party

A man was beaten to death allegedly by neighbours over playing music loudly during a wedding ceremony at Baraigram upazila in Natore.

The incident took place in Manikpur Poshimpara area of the upazila around 10:30 pm on Saturday (February 22).

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bonpara Police Investigation Center, Saral Murmu, confirmed the incident.

The victim Kamal Bepari, 45, son of late Ismail Bepari, was a resident of Manikpur village under the upazila. He was the uncle of bridegroom.

Saral Murmu said on Saturday night, preparations were underway for the wedding of Kamal Bepari’s nephew Sumon. At that time, the family members were merriments by playing music loudly. Neighbours Shamsul Bepari, Shajahan Bepari and Shahadat Bepari came and protested. At that time, they locked into an altercation with Kamal. At one point, they randomly punched and kicked Kamal.

In this situation, Kamal was seriously injured and fell to the ground and died on the spot.

Baraigram Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mahbubur Rahman said, “The accused fled before the police reached the spot. Police are trying to arrest those involved in the incident. A case will be filed in this connection.”
