Police won’t act by becoming any party’s spokesperson: Home Adviser

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, “Police will not behave unprofessionally and act unlawfully by becoming the spokesperson of any party, implementing any party’s agenda, or following their unfair and unjust instructions.”

He made the statements on Sunday (February 23) morning during the passing-out parade of probationary assistant superintendents of police from the 40th BCS Police Cadre at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi. The Home Affairs Adviser received the greetings as the chief guest at the event.

Adviser Jahangir Alam said, “The Bangladesh Police are independent employees of the republic, who follow specific laws. As employees of the republic, the Bangladesh Police will work relentlessly to ensure the overall security of all citizens and uphold the rule of law.”

In today’s parade, 57 trainees from the 40th BCS Police Cadre and three probationary assistant superintendents of police from the 38th BCS participated.

Major General SM Asadul Haque, Commander of the 11th Infantry Division and Area Commander; Professor Dr Mohammad Zawadul Haque, Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi Medical University; Khondokar Azim Ahmed, Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi; Additional IGP Abu Naser Mohammad Khaled of Bangladesh Police; RM Police Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian; and other senior government officials were present at the event.
