Fire at engine: Train services halted on Dhaka-M’singh route

A fire broke out in the engine of the Dewanganj commuter train at Trishal in Mymensingh, suspending train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route.
The incident occurred at around 9:45 am on Saturday (March 8) in the Dhala station area of the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway line.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Golam Kibria, in-charge of Gafargaon railway outpost, confirmed the matter.
SI Golam Kibria said, “When the Dewanganj-bound Dewanganj commuter train, which left Dhaka, reached Dhala station area in Trishal, fire and a lot of smoke were seen coming out of the train’s engine. The driver and director (guard) got off the train quickly and are trying to douse the blaze with fire extinguishers.”
Train service on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route has been temporarily suspended due to the incident, he said.
