Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route restored nearly one hour after a fire broke out in the engine of the Dewanganj commuter train at Trishal in Mymensingh.
The train’s engine caught fire at around 9:45 am on Saturday (March 8) in the Dhala station area of the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway line.
At around 10:45 am, the train left for Dewanganj using an alternative engine.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Golam Kibria, in-charge of Gafargaon railway outpost, said, “When the Dewanganj-bound Dewanganj commuter train, which left Dhaka, reached Dhala station area in Trishal, fire and a lot of smoke were seen coming out of the train’s engine. The driver and director (guard) got off the train quickly and doused the blaze with fire extinguishers. Later, the train left for Dewanganj using an alternative engine.”
