KUET gets interim vice chancellor

Professor Dr Md Hazrat Ali has been appointed as the interim vice chancellor of the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).

The government took the decision after students had continued a movement for about two months.

The Scholarship and Engineering Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (May 1).

He has been appointed to the post with the approval of the President and Chancellor, in accordance with Sections 10 (1) and 10 (3) of the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology Act, 2003, the notification said.

Hazrat Ali was asked to perform routine duties for an interim period until a full-time vice-chancellor is appointed at the university.

In addition, he will be present on the university campus full-time as the university's Chief Executive Officer. The President and Chancellor can cancel this appointment at any time if they deem it necessary, the notification added.

He was serving at the civil engineering department of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).
