Case filed against 62 people including Sheikh Hasina in N’ganj

A case has been filed against 62 people including former home minister Sheikh Hasina in the case of killing one person named Sajal Mia, 20, during the Anti-Discrimination Movement.
The victim’s mother Runa Begum filed the case with Siddhirganj police station on Friday night (May 16).
Confirming the matter, Mohammad Shahinur Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station, said the mother of the deceased Sajal, has filed a murder case.
Notable accused in the case are former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal (73), former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader (72), former Narayanganj-4 constituency MP AKM Shamim Osman (64), former Narayanganj-2 constituency MP Nazrul Islam Babu, former Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, Shamim Osman's son Ayan Osman (37), Shamim Osman's nephew Ajmeri Osman (45) and 62 others.
Besides, 100-150 people have been named as unnamed accused in the case.
According to the case statement, on July 20, 2024, during the anti-discrimination student movement, Sajal Mia took a position with the protesters in front of the Dutch Bangla Bank on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. Meanwhile, Sajal received bullet injuries. He was taken to Sugandha Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.
