Decomposed body recovered in Habiganj

Police have recovered the decomposed body of a man named Farooq Mia (49) 10 days after he went missing in Madhabpur of Habiganj district.
The body was recovered from the forest near Mantala Apurupa School in the upazila on Friday (May 23) noon.
According to local sources, in the morning, locals found the body while searching for the source of the putrid smell and informed the police station.
Upon hearing the news, Farooq's family members went to the spot and identified the body.
The deceased’s son Atiqul Islam said, “My father went missing on the afternoon of May 13 while he was going to the market.
That day, a man named Rubel called his father's number and talked to him. His mobile number was switched off later”.
He said, “It was reported verbally to the Madhabpur police station. However, no GD was filed.”
Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhabpur Police Station, said, “The body has been sent to the morgue of Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital for autopsy. A legal action in this incident is under process.”
