3 killed in Panchagarh road crash

Three people were killed and four others injured when a truck rammed an easy bike in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh yesterday afternoon (May 29).

The deceased were known as Shyamoli Rani, 30, wife of Taposh Kumar Roy, Bharasha Rani, 35, wife of Anrun Kumar Roy, Debasree Rani, 7, daughter of Harendra Nath Roy.

Police and local sources said that the accident occurred around 4:00pm in the Pakuritola area on the Boda-Debiganj highway as the victims were returning home after completing cremation process of a relative from Bhailaganj area of Chilahati union.

Later, locals rushed the victims to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex. Shyamoli Rani died shortly after being put in an ambulance, Debasree Rani died en route to Rangpur, and Bharsha Rani succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Debiganj police station Inspector (probe) Prabir Kumar Roy confirmed the news.
