Mother carps release eggs in Halda river

Mother fish of different species have released eggs at several places in the Halda river, the only natural fish spawning centre in South Asia.
Fishermen claimed that the mother fishes released their eggs in full swing in the early hours of Friday (May 30) due to continuous rain.
More than 300 fishermen are seen busy collecting eggs in their small boats. Many of them have managed to collect a few buckets of eggs.
Halda researcher Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam said that carp mother fish released their eggs in full swing in the Amtua section of the Halda River during the high tide around 2 am. The fishermen are seen in a happy mood after collecting the desired eggs. Currently, the egg collectors are busy hatching the eggs in hatcheries.
