Expelled Jamaat activist arrested for kicking a woman

Police have arrested Akash Chowdhury, an expelled Jamaat-e-Islami activist, for allegedly kicking a woman during a student protest in Chattogram.
He was arrested from Kotwali area of the Chattogram city on Sunday afternoon (June 1).
Abdul Karim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kotwali police station confirmed the matter.
The OC said, “He was arrested based on confidential information. He has been sent to court under the Speedy Trial Act.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the incident of attack took place at the Chattogram Press Club premises, where the Democratic Students' Alliance had organised a protest against the acquittal of convicted war criminal and Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam, terming the verdict a result of a "flawed judicial process."
