60 resorts shut in Bandarban’s Lama

Local authorities in Lama upazila of Bandarban have temporarily shut down around 60 resorts to avoid any risks of casualties amid adverse weather conditions.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Lama Upazila Natural Disaster Preparedness Committee on Sunday (June 1).
Lama upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Md Moeen Uddin confirmed the matter.
He said, "To avoid the risk causalities due to landslides, 60 resorts in the upazila, including Mirinja Valley, have been temporarily closed. The resorts will be reopened following the next instructions when the weather conditions normalize."
Sanatan Kumar Mondal, officer-in-charge of the Bandarban meteorological office, stated that 129 millimeters rainfall has been recorded in the district in the last 24 hours. There is a risk of landslides in the district due to the heavy rainfall.
