Father, son among 5 killed as bus hits Mahindra in Faridpur

Five people were killed and four others injured after a passenger bus hit a three-wheeler (locally known as Mahindra) on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur on Wednesday (June 4) morning.

The accident took place around 6:15 am near the Bablatala bus stand in Chumurdi Union of the upazila.

Among the deceased, four were identified and they are Mizanur Matabbar, son of Latif Matabbar; Ibrahim Sardar and his son Monir Sardar and Tara Mia, son of Badsha Sheikh.

However, all the deceased were the passengers of the three-wheeler.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Bhanga Highway Police Station Md Mamun, a Dhaka-bound bus of Mizan Paribahan hit a Mahindra heading towards Tekerhat, leaving four passengers of the three-wheeler dead on the spot and five others critically injured.

One of the injured died on the way to the Bhanga upazila health complex, he added.

The police official further said, “Fire service personnel and police reached the scene upon receiving the news. Two units of Bhanga Fire Station conducted the rescue work.”
