3 die from electrocution in Panchagarh

Three people, including a student, died after being electrocuted while working in a maize field in Panchagarh Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning (June 4).

The deceased were identified as Rabbani, 35, son of Safiul Islam, Shahin Islam, 45, son of Liakat Ali, and college student Jamidul Islam.

According to local sources, a group of 14 people from the Dhakmara Union were working in a maize field in the Fakir Hat area. A broken electric wire had fallen into the field. There was no electricity there at the time of work. But the line was reconnected shortly afterwards, resulting in the student’s death on the spot and injuries to four others.

Later, the injured were taken to local hospital but two more died on the way to hospital.
