Truck catches fire on Dhaka-Tangail highway

A fire broke out in a moving mini truck in the Chandra Palli Bidyut area of Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur on Wednesday afternoon (June 4).
The accident took place around 4:00 pm. The accident caused a long tail-back on Dhaka-Tangail highway.
Fire service and local sources said that a mini truck carrying cattle from Rangpur went to Dhaka. After dropping off the cows in Dhaka, it was heading back towards Rangpur with a few passengers. The truck got stuck in the area due to a traffic jam. At one stage, it caught fire.
On information, a fire unit from Kaliakoir fire service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
Naojor Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saugatul Alam said, "A long traffic jam has been caused in the Chandra Palli Bidyut area of the Dhaka-Tangail Highway due to the fire incident."
