Those involved in case trading will be sent home: Home Adviser

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that no police officer involved in case trading or corruption will be spared.

“We are taking measures to end case business by digitising the complaint process. No one will be spared if found involved in corruption. Disciplinary action has already been taken against 84 officers, with 30 to 40 of them sent home,” he said while responding to questions from reporters during his visit to Gachha police station in Gazipur city Tuesday (June 10) morning.

“Corruption is the biggest problem in Bangladesh. If it could be brought under control, the country would have advanced significantly,” the home adviser said.

Highlighting the police reform initiative, Jahangir said as part of the reform, an initiative has been taken to accept cases and GDs online across the country and there will be no need to come to the police station in-person.

Besides, he said, a ‘glass room’ will be provided for interrogating the accused in custody, allowing people to see how they are being treated from outside.
