Death toll from dengue rises to 12 in Barguna, 1500 infected

Dengue claimed two more lives and sent 79 people to hospitals in Barguna district in the 24 hours till Thursday morning.

This raises this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 12 and the total number of cases exceeded 1,500 in the district, according to Tazkia Siddikah, resident medical officer of Barguna General Hospital.

Gosai Das, 58, passed away around 8 pm on Wednesday (June 11) and Chand Mia, 75, died around 12 pm while undergoing treatment at Barguna General Hospital.

Currently, 172 dengue patients are receiving treatment at the general hospital. Of them, 31 are children.
