Couple killed in road crash in Narail

A man and his wife were killed in a head-on collision between a sand-laden trolley and a battery-run rickshaw in the Khashial union of Narail’s Kalia upazila on Thursday (June 12).

The deceased were known as Jafar Mamun, 72, and his wife Marzina Begum, 60. The couple was hailed from Beparipara village of Borokalia of Narail.

Locals said the accident occurred around noon when a sand-laden trolley heading towards Kalia collided head-on with a passenger-carrying battery-run rickshaw coming from the opposite direction at Moulvibazar intersection in the Talbaria area around 2:00 pm.

Naragati police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashikur Rahman said the bodies were sent to Kalia upazila health complex for autopsy.
