Cox’s Bazar bus-covered van collision leaves 3 dead

At least three people were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a covered van at Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Monday (June 16) morning.

The accident happened at Jetighat area under Rashidnagar union in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Habibullah, 55, son of Shafikur Rahman; his son Md Riyad, 22, and Rimjhim Borua, 23, daughter of Himangshu Borua.

Patiya Crossing Highway Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nasir Uddin stated, “A head-on collision occurred between a Chattogram-bound Purabi Paribahan passenger bus and a Cox’s Bazar-bound covered van, leaving three people dead on the spot. The bodies have been sent to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.”

He further stated, “The passenger bus and covered van involved in the accident have been seized. The cause of the accident is being investigated, and further legal proceedings are in progress.”
