Ex-MP Zafar Alam placed on 18-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed former member of parliament Zafar Alam (Cox’s Bazar) on an 18-day remand in connection with seven cases.
Chakaria senior judge court justice Md Anwarul Kabir passed the order on Wednesday morning (June 18).
Earlier, he was taken to the court in a district police prison van shortly after 9 am.
The court's Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Advocate Md. Moin Uddin moved for the state during the hearing.
He told the media that the police arrested the former MP in multiple murder cases filed at Chakaria and Pekua police stations and cases under the Special Powers Act. The police filed a petition seeking 18 days remand in the seven cases.
