Youth loses leg in mine explosion in Naikhongchhari border

A Bangladeshi youth sustained injuries from a landmine explosion in Naikhongchhari border of Bandarban on Sunday (June 22).

The victim was identified as Arafatul Islam, 17, son of Khuilla Mia, of Jamchhari area of the border. He has lost one of his legs in the land mine explosion near the border.

Naikhongchhari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Masrurul Haque confirmed the matter.

Local sources said Arafatul illegally entered Myanmar while collecting bamboo in the border area with his father through border pillar number 44 this noon and the explosion took place. Meanwhile, locals rescued the youth and sent him Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
