The Jamuna river's water level has recorded rise in just 24 hours, leaving it to flow, and currently, the water is flowing 48cm above the danger level.

As a result, the water level in the district's internal rivers has also started rising rapidly.

Following the rise of water level, cropland in many villages in the char areas of District Sadar, Kazipur, Belkuchi, Chauhali and Shahjadpur upazilas have been submerged.

According to sources from the Water Development Board office, the water level of the Jamuna River has increased by 107 centimeters in the Sirajganj City Protection Dam Hard Point area and 112 centimeters at the Kazipur Meghaighat Point in the last 6 days.

The riverbank area has been flooded due to the rapid rise in water levels. As a result, the low-lying areas of the char are being submerged, causing water level rise in cropland, destroying crop fields.

Matin Molla, a farmer from Barni village in Kawakola union of Sadar upazila, said that the water level in the Jamuna River has been rising rapidly for the past few days, raising fears of crop damage.

Zakir Hossain, deputy assistant engineer of the Sirajganj Water Development Board, said, "The water level in the Jamuna has been rising for the past week due to continuous rains."
