JCD leader expelled for allegedly assaulting inspector at exam centre

A leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, has been expelled for allegedly assaulting an inspector at an HSC exam center.

The incident occurred at Nandigram Government Mahila College center’s room number 203 on Thursday morning (June 26).

The accused, Firoz Ahmed Shakil, BCL president of Nandigram Mansur Hossain Degree College, assaulted the inspector when he tried to get back the answer sheet after the stipulated time of the exam.

According to the exam inspector Ferdous Ali, a lecturer of Islamic History Department of the college, the HSC examination began at 10 am at the Nandigram Government Women College examination center. After the exam time, Firoz Ahmed Shakil was seen continuing the writing on the exam sheet.

After the allotted time for MCQ questions, the room inspector asked all the examinees to submit their answer sheets. Then everyone submitted their answer sheets. Chhatra Dal leader Shakil was still writing. When the room inspector asked for the exam paper, he refused to give it to the teacher. At one stage, he assaulted the teacher and left the exam center.

Following the issue, the exam center Secretary Assistant Professor Amjad Hossain said, "Shakil has been expelled from the exam for beating up the invigilator."

Nandigram Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Laila Anjuman Banu said, "The victim teacher has filed a general diary (GD) at the police station seeking protection for her life in this incident."
